HI, my name is MARYAM.

I weave multi-sensory and inter-disciplinary spaces of transformation and communion with creativity and essence.

My work as an artist is rooted in a research-based practice, which explores film, visual poetry, movement and
performance work.

As an educator, I guide people in activating and unearthing their creativity, to reconnect with their whole self and build work rooted in their spiritual, creative and cultural lineage.

I support collective and creative collaborations
across geographies and disciplines.

MY WORK BRINGS TOGETHER MOVEMENT, FACILITATION, ARTISTIC RESEARCH, SOMATIC HEALING,
FILM, MUSIC AND EMBODIED LEADERSHIP

I use participatory techniques and different media to create layered, emergent, collective experiences, films and installations rising from the ground and weaving themes of home, belonging, identity and their absence - displacement, exile, disconnection, disorientation.

I focus on margins, diasporic experiences and anti-imperialist struggle, exploring questions of reclamation, celebration, memory, reconciliation and invisibility.

Their interaction with body, heart, spirit.

I work with an approach that is inspired by nature and grounded in ecological, somatic principles, exploring what is beyond linear, colonial techniques.

I believe in sustaining cultural shifts and narratives rooted in connection, collaboration and celebration of who we are, of our bodies, our roots,
our essence and creative intelligence.

I studied law (MSc, 2012), political and social sciences (MSc), documentary filmmaking, movement-based practices and somatic dance, photography and post-colonial narrations, as well as being deeply interested in mystic and animist traditions and ecological thinking.

We research and experiment with different media,
while creating with people and guiding them to be in touch with their creative potential and the embodiment of the places they belong to.

We believe in creating a web of artists and creators that collectively moves towards post-colonial narratives, integration of feminine and masculine principles, collaboration, movement and circulation, as well as land and wealth reclamation and regeneration.

In 2026, I founded ACASA,
a CREATIVE & LIVING STUDIO that
facilitates embodied research
and creative leadership.

As a guide I support you to embrace your creativity, integrate exiled parts of your identity and create the work you long to bring into the world,
in a way that feels supported, true and resourced.
